I write like a 5 year old. Seriously! I literally cannot write entirely joined up. I would love to blame my teachers, but it’s probably not their fault, they did the best they could with what they had, aka ME!
It’s SOOO easy to look at your child’s writing and think “Hey, it looks a bit, erm, messy(?) now, but I’m sure it will get better.
You know what, it PROBABLY will. But what if their writing looks like it might be just a teeny, tiny little bit below their BFF. Worried?
A few years ago, I would have said “You know what, you just gotta hope! NOT ANY MORE!
I was watching Dragons Den a few weeks ago, you know, that awesome program where 5 incredibly successful business people either invest in your business or tell you it is complete utter ****.
I don’t want to call them “stupid”, but they sometimes get it wrong. Like, REALLY WRONG.
A product came on called Write Size pencils (clever play on words)! It was basically a pencil which was the RIGHT SIZE for children.
I mean, would you give a child a 500 gram steak, a full sized tennis racket, or a large briefcase to go to school? Hell no!
So why didn’t the Dragons see the genius? I have gone back and forwards on this one and I think I have the answer…
Are you ready?
You might want to sit down for this…
THEY WERE WRONG. That’s it. They simply missed a trick.
I would love to tell you that this product has been extensively tested and researched, but it just hasn’t. For some people that would put them off.
Really though, it’s just common sense. I don’t need a 10 page research paper by an eminent nobel-winning scientist to tell me that my size 10 shoes are not going to be NEARLY as effective on my 6 year old. Unless of course I am training them to be a child-clown.
*For the record, I am not. I shudder to think of what Social Services might do if they thought I was training my child to be a clown :O
So, at the end of the day, it kind of makes sense. Do you want your child to continue slowly learning to write (and probably struggling) with oversized, adult pencils, which are probably the wrong weight (no research on this point, just my own god-damned opinion) and have this tiny, precision-point lead that breaks every time it hits the page?
If your answer to that is yes, Tesco do a wonderful collection of Fountain Pens which your 6 year old might be interested in using for their latest calligraphy…
If the answer is a BIG FAT NO, this is your chance to change that! These Write Size pencils are the perfect length, the perfect thickness, and even have this amazingly smooth lead which glides across the page like a feather on ice!
Within just a few short months, your child can have:
- Better Handwriting (who doesn’t want this?!)
- More precision
- A more comfortable writing experience (writing ache is AWFUL!)
and best of all…
Your children will have FUN writing! They even make them in a range of different sizes, so whether your child is 2 or 11, they can have WRITE SIZED PENCILS!
Of course the real benefit is that when they grow up, they will write like adults. Real adults, not the kind like me who can’t do joined up writing!!
Are they more expensive than normal pencils? Erm, HELLO!!! Of course they are! They are SPECIFICALLY made for your child.
But the real question is… are they worth it? 100% YES!
